The Archbishop of America Demetrios was honoured by the Church of Cyprus with the gold medal of the founder of the church Apostel Barnabas. He received the medal from the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II on Sunday. CyprusMail reports.
Archbishop Demetrios was honoured for 50 years of episcopal ministry, ecclesiastical labour and academic offerings. He was consecrated as bishop in 1967 and elevated to the metropolitan of America in 1991 and enthroned as Archbishop of America in 1999. (ar)
